Associate Attorneys

Ilana Greenstein. Ilana has been with KOF as an associate attorney since 1998. Her work in that capacity covers all aspects of immigration law, in particular, litigation in federal circuit and district courts. She holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, and a B.A. in Spanish and International Studies from Macalester College. She served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild from 1996-2002, and on the steering committee of the Boston Bar Associations’s Individual Rights & Responsibilities section since 2000. Ilana is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, in the Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and in the 1st and 11th Circuit Courts of Appeals.

 

 

Jeannie Kain. has been an associate attorney with KOF since 2004. She holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and a B.A. from American University in Washington, D.C. She handles a wide spectrum of immigration matters, with particular interest in asylum, removal proceedings, family-based immigration, and appeals. She has written numerous appellate briefs for BIA, AAO and federal appeals cases, including the following cases:
Succar v. Ashcroft, 394 F.3d 8 (1st Cir. 2005) (assisted in preparing petitioner's brief as a student); Mersha v. Gonzales, 2005 WL 1367949 (4th Cir., June 10, 2005); De-Faria-Goncalves v. Gonzales, No. 05-2158 (1st Cir. 2005); Karaj v. Gonzales, 462 F.3d 113 (2d Cir. 2006); Visoka v. Gonzales, 2006 WL 3307471 (11th Cir., Nov. 15, 2006). She has also written amicus briefs for the following federal appeals cases: Castaneda-Castillo v. Gonzales, 488 F.3d 17 (1st Cir. 2007) (en banc); Zeru v. Gonzales, -- F.3d --, 2007 WL 2725974 (1st Cir. 2007).
Jeannie is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, U.S. District Court for Massachusetts, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and currently serves as co-chair of AILA New England's New Members Division.

 

  Beata Weiss. Beata has been with KOF since 1997. She specializes in business and employment immigration. Beata began her studies at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow, Poland. She then moved to Vienna, Austria to study at the University of Vienna where she met her husband, Scott. Beata came to the U.S. in 1989 and continued her education at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. She graduated summa cum laude earning a B.A. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. She received her J.D. (International Law Concentration, with honors) from Boston University School of Law. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association, New York Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Beata is admitted to practice in the State of Massachusetts and New York.
